The record starts on September 28.
The same mechanic that pulls strangers together without a word has left veterans worn down: event windows that never come back, and candles that never stretch far enough.
Born as an April Fools' prank that Sega decided to see through, the mystery aboard the Mirage Express splits the people who wanted to do real detective work from the ones who only wanted to hear the suspects talk their way out of it.
The girls fall into your lap; the real hook is splitting stats, paychecks and affection without letting any of them wither.
The same leeway long-time fans praise is exactly why the players who wanted clear targets walked away.
A romantic stroll ends with a kidnapping in the girlfriend's basement, and pleasing the people down there may mean wiping them out.
Reviews have been burying this game since 2016, and the studio keeps answering with new maps, reworked skills and the rescue of its own pre-Steam build.
An undergraduate course project set an armed train loose for fifteen minutes in a world overrun by Lovecraftian creatures, and the result draws as much praise as complaint from the players who tried it.
It's a group game: without enough people in the room to set the traps and to run from them, the Tung Tung has nobody to hunt.
ClockStone's engineering puzzler explains none of its new mechanics, and that silence sorts the players who like figuring things out by trial and error from the ones who wanted to be taught first.
The game sells the messages the trapped survivors trade as the trail to follow — and that is exactly where part of the audience grinds to a halt.
Built out of official and community mods, the remaster splits players between those who see a faithful restoration and those who see a reskin with no reason to exist.
The players who defend that train armed to the teeth and the players who swear they will never put in a good word for it keep quarrelling over the same system: combat.
A dice system where healing your opponent can be the right call — and it splits the people who have played it between fascination and bewilderment.
One player has 416 hours in and is still asking for a sequel that never arrived; another stalled in the tutorial.
An army of giant robots that you build, release into the arena and then leave to itself, wrapped in a change at the front door that has split the veterans themselves.
The players who came hunting jump scares slammed the door behind them. The ones who stayed for the story found a reason to walk back in.
Players who know the trade can see the care that went into it; players who came to actually tattoo walk away let down.
Solo, the base falls early — the game only pays off with people you trust holding the trench beside you.
The text that carries every card in Foretales has never been written in Portuguese — and the gap splits even the players who champion the game hardest.
Built from one of the most reprinted short stories in the English language, this point-and-click classic charges a steep toll in patience — its puzzles are obscure on purpose — for a story that still gets under a player's skin.
Building a base is the easy part. The hard part is deciding whether to trust the radio messages left by someone who reached the island ahead of you.
Fans talk up the luck and the humour as a package deal; detractors say chance calls too many of the shots for anyone to label it strategy.
A simulator of real machines that simulates something else as well: growing a company on your own, one contract at a time, with no partner anywhere on the site.
The voxel art wins people over; the turn-based adventure splits them once the fights drag on and the central mystery shuts its doors without answering everything.
A debut team with Braid's artist in its ranks, and a split verdict: some praise how original the mechanic is, others find it tiring after a few hours.
Peachy Keen Games builds a simulation with no deadlines of its own — what you get to judge by are the store's screenshots and a trailer that plays without leaving the page.
The store promises that every decision truly weighs here; the players who lived through them largely say they felt the opposite.
Five dogs, a musher who was never ready, and a run of luck that decides what the trail holds on every attempt.
No guns, no health bar: the game is built on keeping Rosemary Reed out of sight of a stalker who, by players' accounts, almost always guesses where she has to go next.
What separates the players who finish in tears from the ones who quit early isn't how moving the game is — it's how far each of them will take Tyler at his word about his own childhood.
A retro RPG that swaps the pizzeria for a forest and asks patience of you first — the rest comes after.
The hard part isn't the forest's puzzles — it's the controller that decides who ever reaches them.
In one language after another the same split shows up: the car obeys some drivers and slides out from under the rest. The difference isn't the game, it's the hands on the wheel.
Behind the counter, a restaurant sim lets one lonely shift slide into a mystery that answers to the name Obscura Biotech.
The same grappling hook that hurls Kai across the stages is what made part of the crowd that tried the game put the controller down.
Easy to pick up and pure chaos with a full group, but show up alone and you get empty lobbies and a line-up of bots to run from.
