A first-person horror game that Atomic Fabrik built and released on its own, about a humanity on alert and the moment you stop trusting your own eyes.

The fear from the sky and the fear from within

More and more people are reporting hallucinations. At the same time, unidentified objects are closing in on Earth, and all of humanity goes on alert. Project First Contact opens at that intersection: the fear that comes from outside, up in the sky, and the fear that comes from within, when you can no longer trust what you see.

This is horror with one foot in fantasy, played alone and in first person. The camera is no minor detail. In a story where people see what isn't there, looking through the character's own eyes turns every apparition into the same question: is this the invasion arriving, or is your own mind starting to fail like everyone else's?

Atomic Fabrik holds both ends of the project. The studio made the game and published it on its own, with no distributor in between, and it debuted in July 2023.

Alone with what may not even be there

The message is blunt: first-person horror, for a single player. There's no partner, no second controller, no open world to lose yourself in — just you, the silence of the house and the suspicion that what shows up on screen may not really be there.

Anyone looking for action, co-op or a big map to explore will be knocking on the wrong door. Anyone willing to face a premise of invasion and unraveling minds on their own — unidentified objects drawing near, people seeing what isn't there — will settle right into the vise the game sets. Between the two groups there's no comfortable middle ground: either being alone before the unknown pulls you in, or it drives you out at the first dark room.
